Mamilla, a new kosher and vegetarian restaurant at The Arcade in downtown Cleveland, brings Israeli style and food and makes it accessible to everyone in the city.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Dan Kaminsky and Elisha Kaminsky, who also operate Arova in South Euclid. They launched the restaurant’s soft opening last month.

“We were trying to bring something new, we were trying to get somewhere downtown where we know a lot of (Jewish) people live here and work here,” Dan Kaminsky told the Cleveland Jewish News on Nov. 14. Here for someone who eats kosher, but something that can only be sustainable with everyone around.
The decor is inspired by the streets of Jerusalem with the stone wall of Jerusalem and umbrellas covering the ceiling.
As the only Cleveland-certified kosher restaurant in downtown Cleveland, Mamillas’ menu also includes gluten-free and vegetarian options, so there can be something for everyone to enjoy.
The two main menu items are falafel and sabich, served as a wrap, salad, pita or rice, quinoa or hummus bowl, with your choice of salad, flavored hummus and side sauce. There are also soups, with some year-round staples and a rotation of seasonal flavors.

“One of the biggest things we do here is hummus,” said Dan Kaminsky. So, we have some hummus that has always been like that. Plain hummus, sundried tomato hummus, roasted pepper hummus are hummus that always carries over well, and we bring in new flavors every week or so.
The dining room features a Jerusalem Stone-like stone wall and colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, inspired by the Umbrella Street project in Jerusalem.

We grew up there, I lived there most of my life, so it was definitely something that was always inspiring and just a place that I love,” Dan Kaminski said.
He said the location inside The Arcade was perfect given the beauty and symbolism of the building. He also hopes the proximity to the Hyatt Regency Cleveland and its events will bring in more customers.
