Golden’s Kosher Deli: Staten Island Institute | Then and now

STATEN ISLAND, NY Goldens Kosher Deli & Restaurant was located at 2845 Richmond Ave., in the former Kmart shopping center. Closed on January 1, 2012 due to landlord/tenant issues after 30 years in New Springville.

The mall now includes a variety of businesses, including Spectrum, CardSmart and the US Postal Service.

The subway car that was the centerpiece of the restaurant was recently found by senior review writer Tom Wrobleski, who completely restored it on Tom Zoffalis’ seven-acre homestead in Warwick, New York, and restored the interior, including electricity and heat. The exterior of the subway car was dark green.
