Health insurance market opens in state on November 1

OKLAHOMA CITY Oklahoma’s health insurance marketplace is scheduled to open for the 2024 coverage year on November 1.

This is the first day individuals and families can enroll, re-enroll or make changes to their health insurance plans.

November 1: open registration begins

Starting November 1, residents can explore the different health insurance options available in the Oklahoma marketplace. This is an opportunity to find a plan adapted to everyone’s needs and budget.

December 15: coverage deadline from January 1

To ensure health coverage begins January 1, 2024, be sure to enroll or make plan changes before December 15 to avoid a lapse in coverage.

Seven insurers will offer individual health plans for 2024 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), Medica Insurance Company, Oscar Health, UnitedHealthCare (UHC), CommunityCare Oklahoma (CCOK), Ambetter of Oklahoma and Taro Health (new for 2024).

Mulready added that the cost of health care is rising as demand increases and it is more important than ever that people are insured.

Last year, nearly 183,000 Oklahomans who renewed or purchased plans during open enrollment received an average bonus of $73 per month after federal subsidies.

Plan options, monthly premiums and total annual charges for 2024 will be available at www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/ later this month after this information is released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
