Position Summary:

As a Medication Assistant, you will work in partnership with caregivers, CNAs, and clinical leaders to provide the best care and hospitality to our residents. Medical Assistants will fully understand each resident’s complete care plan to understand the “why” of each medication and PRN. The Medical Assistant will also work alongside caregivers to ensure the needs and desires of our residents are met in a timely manner.

What you will do:

  • Provide assistance and services to residents with medication administration and treatment as directed by the health care provider.
  • Adhere to Aviva Senior Living’s Narcotics and PRN Policy.
  • Report any changes in the physical condition and/or behaviors of residents.
  • Maintain resident records regarding medication distribution, recreational activities, incidents and observations.
  • Follow the schedule of resident needs established by the supervisor.
  • Provide emotional and social support to residents.
  • Adhere to all community policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Regular and predictable presence on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Certified in the applicable state to convey medications in the workplace.
  • One to two years of related professional experience desired

General knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Competent in caring for residents with memory impairment and secondary diagnosis.
  • Ability to work with older adults in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of state regulations
  • Ability to read and write in English
