Pathways of Idaho Opens New Facility Focused on Children’s Mental and Behavioral Health

The Youth Center will offer service 24 hours a day, all year round, without appointment and services will be offered at no cost to families.

BOISE, Idaho Tuesday was a big day for Pathways of Idaho, an organization that provides mental health services and crisis support to Idahos communities.

The organization celebrated the opening of the Pathways Youth Community Support Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 10.

This is Pathways’ third support center, but it’s the first center they’ve opened focused on children’s mental and behavioral health. The other two centers are intended for adults.

Community members who helped complete the facility gathered at the site on West Emerald Street in Boise to celebrate the opening of the youth support center.

The facility will have 25 staff members and will be able to accommodate 12 young patients. The center will welcome children between 12 and 17 years old.

The facility will include 12 beds, a games room and a quiet room. Patients will benefit from medical assessments, behavioral health assessments and one-on-one meetings with peer support to help them take the next step.

“When a child is at a crossroads where they may be in a situation in their life where they could enter the system,” said Ryan Jones, executive director of Pathways of Idaho. “Now we have an opportunity meet them at this point, provide them with the resources and connect them to steer this path in a better direction to give them the support they need before things start to spiral out of control.

The Youth Center will offer service 24 hours a day, all year round, without appointment and services will be offered at no cost to families.

Jones said 10 years ago there were many barriers for people trying to get help for a mental health issue, such as the cost of services and delays in services.

The organization’s goal is to provide efficient, quality services and ensure that families do not have to worry about paying for services and focus solely on getting help for their children.

The official opening of the facility will take place on October 16, 2023.
